Swagtron T580 Review: New & Improved Hoverboard With Bluetooth
Last Updated on by
As the Swagtron slogan goes: “Adventures begin with your feet”. This is very fitting for the Swagtron T580 self balancing hoverboard, a mid-tier and mid-sized model in the Swagtron family. The T580 continues with the company’s history of quality design and high performance all at a reasonable price. For some, this model may not have the size they require or the power and speed they need, however, for more casual hoverboard users the T580 is an ideal solution especially at its price point. In this Swagtron T580 review we’re going to take a closer look at what it can do, and you’ll see whether or not its the hoverboard for you.

- Lowest motor power in the Swagtron family at 150W.

- Limited color range in blue, red and black.
Swagtron T580 vs T1, T3, T5 & T6
The Swagtron T580 has some benefits over the other models but also has some disadvantages. Below the key differences between other models (T1, T3, T5 and T6) will be highlighted.
The T1 comes in at 2lbs heavier weighing in at 22lbs and boasts a larger motor at 250W. This extra power allows the T1 to have a longer max travel distance at 12 miles. However, the two frames are similar, both sporting 6.5” tires and both having the same max carry weight of 220lbs. In addition, the T1 does not come with Bluetooth speaker or the Android and iOS app.
The T3 is also heavier at 22.5lbs and similarly to the T1, has a 250W engine. This extra power allows the T3 to have a longer max travel distance at 12 miles. The T3 also has 6.5” tires and can carry 220lbs. This is also a bluetooth hoverboard with app connectivity, but is significantly more expensive than the T580.
The T5 is slightly lighter at 18.9lbs and has a 200W motor. As this is the smallest model, it only has a max weight of 187.4lbs and does not have the app or bluetooth. This is labelled as Swagtron’s entry level model and with the lower max speed and lower weight capacity is more suited to children or young adults.
Finally, the T6 is the largest and most expensive model. It comes with all of the key features and weighs in at 30.55lbs. With this extra size, 10” tyres and 350W motor, it is able to carry loads of up to 380lbs. This is an off road hoverboard so is more versatile in where you can use it. The T6 is the only Swagtron hoverboard that can travel over sand, gravel, grass and other uneven ground. Despite its larger size though it IS still suitable for children of 44lbs and up as well as adults.
Is it properly certified?
Swagtron places safety at paramount importance. With this in mind, all hoverboards come with a UL certification to validate the high degree of reliability they have. To be UL listed means that they have presented samples to Underwriter Laboratories (UL) who have run numerous electrical tests on the samples and subsequently approved on the quality. To be sure your hoverboard is UL listed, always check the bottom of the product for the UL holographic sticker.
Here’s my opinion
How does it stand up to its T Series Swagtron predecessors – the T1 and T5? Pretty well actually.
Although its not much more expensive than the entry level Swagtron T5 (which is really only suited to kids and teenagers), this has a max weight of 220lbs, but also beats the popular T5 and T1 in that it has bluetooth speakers and Swagtron app connectivity (which they don’t).
The T580 is not suitable for anyone over 220lbs though, who would be more suited to perhaps try the T6. In addition, for any individuals who require their journeys to last more than 8 miles, they would be better suited opting for another Swagtron product or a different model altogether.
Where to buy the Swagtron T580?
If you’re looking for a Swagtron T580 you’ll find its available at a number of different outlets. The price is usually the same, except for at times like Black Friday and Cyber Monday where you may find it reduced at some online stores but not others. Right now my favorite retailers for the T580 are Amazon.com and the official website, Swagtron.com.

It is also available on Best Buy.
